Stash Search & Regex Guide
In Path of Exile 2, stash searches highlight items that match your query. Regex helps when a simple keyword is too broad or when you need to match several properties, modifiers or alternatives.
Test a Regex in Stash LabHow stash search works
The in-game search field checks your query against item text and highlights matches in your open stash. A phrase can work for a basic search, while regex lets you combine alternatives, ranges and several conditions.
For example, when sorting a tab with several rarities, you may only want to see items with Rare rarity. Try this search in Stash Lab.
Regex: "y: r"
Copy the complete expression, including the quotes, into the stash search field. It matches Rarity: Rare.
The highlighted items match the Rare rarity line. Magic and Normal items remain dimmed, so you can focus on the rare items in the tab.
Hover over a highlighted item to inspect it. Eagle Bond matches because it is Rare, regardless of its modifiers or their values.
Search highlighting is a screening tool. It helps decide which items deserve attention, but it does not understand your build, calculate market value or replace reading the complete item.
Why plain text can match too much
A short fragment such as fire can appear in resistance, damage, skill or descriptive lines. That can highlight unrelated items and make a crowded tab harder to review rather than easier.
Regex lets you be more deliberate about the wording, alternatives and item properties being matched. Shortening an expression can help with the in-game character limit, but fragments that are too short may introduce false positives.
Where stash regex saves time
- Reviewing Waystones for rewarding effects and risky modifiers.
- Finding Tablets with relevant content modifiers and enough uses remaining.
- Sorting Trial Relics by defensive, recovery, reward or utility effects.
- Checking equipment for several useful modifiers before vendoring, crafting or reorganising it.
A reliable search can reduce the risk of overlooking a useful or valuable item during a quick batch review. It cannot prove that an item is valuable, so highlighted results must still be inspected.
Test your search in Stash Lab
Stash Lab tests your search against simulated items, helping you spot unintended matches before using it in-game.
Editing the search updates the highlights in the current stash. Select Generate stash to create a new set of items. Enable Fixed seed to unlock the seed field and recreate the same stash with the same seed and settings.
Generated items are educational test data, not live items or evidence of exact drop rates.
Leave Quality blank for mostly zero-quality equipment, occasional low values and very rare values up to 20%. Set either bound to generate within an explicit range up to 40%. Changing quality here does not recalculate the item's other stats.
A search such as "5%" also matches 15% and 50%. Use the relevant builder when you need a numeric minimum or range.

Stash regex FAQ
Can stash regex tell me which items are valuable?
No. It can highlight text associated with properties you care about, but value depends on the full item, current demand and your intended use.
Why test a regex outside my real stash?
Testing helps you spot overly broad search terms and unintended matches before using the search string on your real stash.
Does Stash Lab reproduce live drop rates?
No. It generates representative items for search testing and education. Its output must not be treated as drop-rate evidence.
