Vendor Searching in Path of Exile 2

A vendor regex highlights gear with the item class, rarity and modifiers that matter to your character. It lets you screen vendor stock without inspecting every item line by line.

Build a Vendor Regex

Why search vendor equipment?

During the campaign, a useful vendor item can fill a resistance gap, meet an attribute requirement, improve movement or replace an outdated weapon or defence base. The useful stats depend on your build and current equipment.

A vendor search narrows the list to items with the effects you need. Instead of comparing every visible item, you can focus on a smaller group.

Useful levelling search targets

Common targets include life, mana, elemental resistances, attributes, movement speed, defences and damage modifiers for the selected equipment class. These are useful starting points, not a fixed upgrade checklist.

For example, if your boots have no Movement Speed, you may want to check the vendor for a faster pair. Select the item class Boots and choose Seek for the modifier #% increased Movement Speed. Leave the modifier input blank to accept any roll. Try this search in the builder.

Regex: "\d+%.*movement speed" "s: Boots"
Copy the complete expression, including both pairs of quotes, into the in-game search field.

Horizontally scrolled in-game search field showing the ending of the Movement Speed condition and the complete "s: Boots" condition.

The highlighted items match both parts of the expression: they are Boots and have a Movement Speed modifier. Other equipment and boots without that modifier remain dimmed.

The stash example below demonstrates the equipment search. You can use the same expression when checking vendor stock.

Dimmed grey Inspired Faithful Leggings of the Drake on the right, with no Movement Speed. The matching brown boots remain on the left.
Excluded: the grey boots on the right have no increased Movement Speed.
Highlighted brown Cheetah's Drakeskin Boots of the Cloud on the left, with 30% increased Movement Speed. The grey boots remain on the right.
Highlighted: the brown boots on the left have 30% increased Movement Speed.

Hover over a highlighted pair to check its Movement Speed roll and compare its other stats with your equipped boots before buying.

Select your item class first to filter out incompatible modifiers, then add the specific effects your character currently needs.

How the Vendor Regex Builder works

Select an equipment class, rarity and the modifier effects you want to seek. PoEGuru combines those choices into a compact expression for the vendor search field and warns when a selected modifier is incompatible with the chosen class.

Keep in-game search length limits in mind. A short, targeted search is easier to manage than a long string trying to match every possible upgrade.

Match All requires every chosen effect; Match Any accepts one or more. Item filters still apply in both modes, and Avoid conditions still exclude items.

A blank modifier input normally means any roll; rows labelled Requires a minimum need a value before selection. Enter 10 for 10 or higher, or 10-20 for an inclusive range where a numeric input is available. Rows without numeric inputs search for the effect at any roll value.

Compress shortens eligible Any-mode searches that do not use numeric modifier bounds or listing prices. Item filters keep their conditions, and selecting item filters alone does not enable Compress. If compression is unavailable, use Standard output; there is no need to change your filter options just to compress the string.

Currency filters look for whole-number ~b/o and ~price item listing notes, not NPC vendor gold. Fractional prices and automatic currency conversion are not supported. Check the asking price before buying.

A practical vendor-checking workflow

  1. Choose the equipment class you are currently trying to replace.
  2. Select a small set of modifiers that would make an item worth comparing.
  3. Paste the generated regex into the open vendor inventory.
  4. Compare highlighted items with your equipped item before buying.

Vendor regex FAQ

Does PoEGuru read my current vendor inventory?

No. It generates an expression that you paste into the vendor window already open in the game.

Does a highlighted item guarantee an upgrade?

No. The item matches the requested text, but its complete stats and your current equipment still need to be compared.

Why select an item class first?

Selecting an item class removes modifiers that do not apply and keeps the generated search shorter.
