Waystones in Path of Exile 2

Waystones open endgame Atlas areas in Path of Exile 2. A Waystone regex helps you quickly check tiers, rewards and dangerous modifiers across several Waystones without reading every item line by line.

Build a Waystone Regex

What are Waystones?

A Waystone is placed in the Map Device to open an endgame area on the Atlas. Its tier determines the area's level, while its rarity and modifiers describe the conditions, monsters and reward-related bonuses applied to that run.

Waystones with similar names can behave very differently. One may suit your character, while another contains a modifier that makes recovery, defences or damage much harder to manage.

Why search Waystone modifiers?

Waystone modifiers trade additional danger for reward-related effects. The danger is build-specific: a modifier that barely affects one character may make the same area unreliable for another.

For example, if your character deals elemental damage, set Avoid on +#% Monster Elemental Resistances to filter out Waystones with that modifier. Try this search in the builder and adjust it for your character.

Regex: "!r el"
Copy the complete expression, including the quotes, into your stash search field. The ! excludes matching items.

In-game Highlight Items field containing the search "!r el".

The highlighted Waystones match the expression. Here, the search excludes the Monster Elemental Resistances modifier, leaving the other Waystones highlighted.

Dimmed Impacting Waystone of the Prism with +34% Monster Elemental Resistances, immediately left of the highlighted orange Waystone.
Excluded: the dimmed Waystone has +34% Monster Elemental Resistances.
Highlighted orange Flaming Waystone with 15% Monster Effectiveness and Ignited Ground, immediately right of the dimmed Waystone.
Highlighted: the highlighted Waystone has no extra Monster Elemental Resistances.

Hover over a highlighted Waystone to check its modifiers. It has passed this condition because it does not have the extra Monster Elemental Resistances modifier, but its other effects still matter for your character.

A focused Waystone search can highlight rewarding candidates, exclude modifiers your build cannot handle and separate items that need rerolling. This is particularly useful when preparing several Waystones at once.

How the Waystone Regex Builder works

Select Seek for modifier effects you want and Avoid for effects you do not want. You can also narrow the result by properties such as rarity, tier, corruption state, revives and supported reward values.

PoEGuru converts those choices into a compact expression for the in-game search field. Compression shortens compatible fragments, but it must preserve the same matching behaviour as the readable version.

Match All requires every chosen effect; Match Any accepts one or more. Item filters still apply in both modes, and Avoid conditions still exclude items.

A blank modifier input normally means any roll; rows labelled Requires a minimum need a value before selection. Enter 10 for 10 or higher, or 10-20 for an inclusive range where a numeric input is available. Rows without numeric inputs search for the effect at any roll value.

Compress shortens eligible Any-mode searches that do not use numeric modifier bounds or listing prices. Item filters keep their conditions, and selecting item filters alone does not enable Compress. If compression is unavailable, use Standard output; there is no need to change your filter options just to compress the string.

Currency filters look for whole-number ~b/o and ~price item listing notes, not NPC vendor gold. Fractional prices and automatic currency conversion are not supported. Check the asking price before buying.

A practical batch-checking workflow

  1. Place the Waystones you want to review in one stash tab.
  2. Select the tiers, properties and modifier effects relevant to your build.
  3. Copy the generated regex into the in-game search field.
  4. Inspect every highlighted Waystone before running, rerolling or moving it.
  5. Test a complicated expression in Stash Lab before relying on it.

Waystone regex FAQ

Can one Waystone regex work for every build?

No. Avoided modifiers should reflect the recovery, defences and mechanics of the character running the area.

Does the builder change or reroll Waystones?

No. It only creates text for the game's search field so matching items are highlighted.

Why should I test a compressed regex?

Short regex fragments save character space, but broad patterns can match unintended item text. Stash Lab can help catch obvious false positives before searching your live stash; inspect the highlighted items in game.
